Tools

For Networking

  1. Wireshark is one of the famous applications used in different fields and is also my go-to tool when I want to learn what's happening at a packet level and for troubleshooting.
  2. GNS3 and Packet Tracer are among my favorite tools because they provide a platform for learning to configure, troubleshoot, and build your own lab. However, I primarily use GNS3 now, and if I need to quickly test something, I turn to Packet Tracer.
  3. VMware Workstation Player, along with GNS3, allows me to emulate Layer 2 technologies such as a Layer 2/3 Switch. These tools also come in handy when experimenting with different operating systems, like Linux.
  4. SuperPuTTY is my favorite application for managing PuTTY terminals, and it also supports tabs.

For Systems

  1. Oracle VirtualBox is a program similar to VMware Workstation Player. I prefer using VirtualBox because it supports snapshots, a feature not present in Workstation Player. Most of the time, I use VirtualBox for running Linux, particularly Ubuntu and other related distributions.
  2. AnyDesk is used when fixing someone's PC issues remotely or remote something.
  3. WinSCP I usually use this application to transfer file to another desktop remotely.

For Study

  1. Microsoft OneNote for writing and organizing my notes.
  2. Anki is a crucial tool in my studies; it helps me retain all the topics that I learn.
